In a time where “flash mobs” weren’t even a known term, much less the buzzword they’ve become, the producers of Godspell reached out to MAMA with the idea to produce a Flash Mob to promote the Opening Night of Godspell the Musical on Broadway. Given only three weeks to produce the full event, soup to nuts, we knew time was not on our side. In the tight timeline, our team managed to coordinate a hundred volunteers (and teach them the dance), a full scale video and photo production team, AV and sound equipment, choreographers, a trumpeter, and we even worked hand in hand with our government official friends at the city to secure the needed permits in record time! Once all the many moving pieces were in place, it was time to put on a show!
The Godspell Flash Mob was covered in every single identified targeted media source including: Broadway World, Playbill, Broadway.com, NYTimes.com, numerous industry blog sources, and many more without spending one ad-buying dollar. We reached hundreds of thousands of spectators in Times Square. Several versions of the flash mob media stunt online videos even have over 500,000 views at the time of this publication.
